赛出精神文明——深圳市第一届运动会

1st Shenzhen Games uplifted people’s spirit, morality

大多数深圳人对2011年在深圳举办的第26届世界大学生夏季运动会仍然记忆犹新，却少有人了解，1981年，在特区建设初期热火朝天的建设历程中，也有一场体育盛事举行，那就是深圳市第一届运动会。

The memories of the 2011 World University Games still maintain a fond presence in the minds of most Shenzhen residents, however, the 1st Shenzhen Games, which was organized in 1981 when the construction of the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone was in full swing, remains mostly unremembered.

 

深圳市第一届运动会（下称“市运会”）于1981年10月19日至31日举行，是一次全民综合的、规模较大的体育盛会。那时，深圳经济特区建设形势良好，已经引起国内外各方面的极大关注。为了进一步做好特区的精神文明建设工作，改变深圳体育事业的落后面貌，深圳市委市政府将体育事业视为特区建设的重要工作。在这一背景下，市运会顺势而生。

The 1st Shenzhen Games (SZ Games) was a public-oriented and large-scale sporting event held from October 19 to 31, 1981 when the promising special economic zone aroused great attention both at home and abroad. The CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and the municipal government regarded sports undertaking as an essential component of the building of the special economic zone, which served as the impetus and inspiration for creating the SZ Games.

 

在国家体委、省体委的关心及深圳各方单位的努力下，1981年10月19日，深圳工人文化宫灯光球场举行了市运会开幕式，次日上午正式开赛，共设田径（成年组、少年组）、足球、篮球、乒乓球、棋类等5项，参与的代表团有27个，运动员和工作人员共计达1000人之多。

The opening ceremony of the 1st SZ Games took place in the lighted court of the Shenzhen Worker’s Cultural Palace on October 19, 1981, and was followed the next morning by the official beginning of the Games with the concern of the State Physical Culture and Sports Commission and the Guangdong Provincial Physical Culture and Sports Commission as well as the joint efforts of various organizations. The SZ Games featured five sports categories: athletics (adult and adolescent groups), football, basketball, table tennis and chess. A total of 27 delegations with over 1,000 athletes and staff participated in the event.

档案资料显示，市运会提出了朴素的基本指导思想：队伍顽强，胜不骄败不馁，总结提高。在比赛期间，十分关注各运动队的精神面貌，教育引导其正确对待胜负，不断总结表扬。如文教女篮（即文教战线代表团）输球后，立即开会总结找原因，在后续比赛中节节取胜。

The Games paid attention to the morale of each team and encouraged them to positively embrace the results. To be indomitable enough to analyze and improve the team itself regardless of the score received was the basic and guiding principle raised by the Games, according to the archives. For instance, the women’s basketball team from the cultural and educational delegation won one match after another by discussing results in meetings and learning from mistakes.

 

档案中还留存了各方支持市运会顺利进行的一个动人细节：深圳中学的领导为了不让大雨影响篮球到校比赛，亲自动手清理全市唯一的室内球场，并摆好板凳备好茶水。

The archives also document a moving detail: The leaders of Shenzhen Middle School cleaned the only indoor court of the city and personally prepared benches and tea in case of heavy rain.

 

特区建设初期从体育着手，全市上下力抓社会主义文明建设的情况由此可见一斑。

The whole city strived to advance social progress starting with the sports undertaking at the early stage of the construction of the special economic zone, and the results were obvious.

 

1981年11月1日，市运会闭幕式在深圳人民体育场举行，出席大会的领导宣读了成绩，并为运动员颁发了奖章、奖旗及奖金。深圳市第一届市运会的顺利举办，为普及特区体育、逐步在群众性体育活动基础上建立高技术水平的运动队伍创造了良好局面。自1981年起，市运会每4年举办一届，截至2021年已举办10届，在提高市民身体素质、展示城市形象和文明程度上起到了非常重要的作用。

On November 1, 1981, the closing ceremony of the Shenzhen Games was held and the present leaders awarded medals, flags and prizes to the athletes. The 1stSZ Games contributed to the popularity of sports in the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone and the establishment of high-quality teams based on mass sports activities. Ten such Games had been held from 1981 to 2021, every four years, which played an important role in the improvement of mass physical fitness and the display of the city’s image and social advancements.

 

如今，深圳在全民健身运动、竞技体育和体育产业等方面迅猛发展，以“深圳速度”和“深圳质量”跻身国内一流体育城市行列。

Nowadays Shenzhen is one of the national first-rate sports cities known for “Shenzhen Speed” and “Shenzhen Quality” with the development of mass fitness programs, competitive sports and a thriving sports industry.
